Project Overview
Client: Lachy Henry, Freelance Videographer
📌 Problem Introduction
Lachy Henry is a freelance videographer from the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. While weddings are his main focus, he’s also does commercial projects for brands and the occasional film/documentary.
His previous website did its job as an online brochure, but it wasn’t working as hard as it could. The design wasn’t quite capturing the breadth of his work, there were a few design, accessibility and SEO issues, not to mention a little bit of unnecessary friction in his inquiry funnels.

I worked with Lachy on a brand overhaul, service revamp and new site build rebuild using Framer.
👨👩👧👦 Target Audience:
Recently Engaged Couples: Seeking wedding and event videography to capture special moments.
Brands and Businesses: Requiring professional, visually compelling content for campaigns and social media.
Film Makers: Seeking experienced support to produce high-quality, story-driven films and documentaries.
🎥 Core Services:
Production
Professional videography, drone operation and specialty Super 8 film for a polished and/or nostalgic cinematic look.Post-Production
Video editing, colour-grading and sound design. Includes highlight reels, long-and-short-form content, and social media edits.Campaign Management
End-to-end support for brand campaigns — from concept planning and creative direction to filming, editing, and delivering ready-to-publish content.Collaborative Packages

🎯 Project Goals
Create a Professional Online Presence
Design a website that reflected Lachy’s branding vision and elevated his professional image.
Attract Inbound Leads
Shift from relying solely on referrals and word-of-mouth by building a site optimised for online visibility and lead generation.
Formalise Service Offerings
Clearly define and present Lachy’s services and packages, making it easier for potential clients to understand his offerings and select the right option for their needs.
Streamline Client Enquiries
Segment distinct audiences (e.g., wedding clients, commercial brands) and create pathways to guide them directly to relevant packages or services.

What We Did
🎯 Phase 1: Strategy & Content
Collaboration and Discovery
Created a dedicated client portal in Notion to manage tasks, share resources, and streamline communication.
Held discovery sessions to define the website’s structure, colour scheme, fonts, and key messaging.
Worked with Lachy to browse and select a Framer template, which served as the foundation for the site design.
Planning and Content Creation
Designed the site sitemap and wireframes, ensuring clear navigation and user flow.
Crafted content for each page, including pricing bundles and packages, based on Lachy’s input about his services.

🏗️ Phase 2: Design & Build
Media Organisation and Customisation
Analysed Lachy’s extensive media library on Vimeo, organising it by service area to better tell his story visually.
Adapted the selected template to align with Lachy’s branding vision, making adjustments in Figma to finalise the colour scheme and other design elements.
Designed some rudimentary logos / imagery to accompany the branding.
Bespoke Components and Development
Built custom components in Framer, including a bespoke Vimeo integration to ensure seamless media display.
Completed the entire build in under two weeks, adapting the design to Lachy’s feedback throughout the process.

🚀 Phase 3: QA & Launch
Content and Technical Review
Lachy provided feedback via the Notion portal, and all content and media were reviewed, updated, and finalised collaboratively.
Conducted joint QA testing to ensure all links, media, and site functionality were flawless.
Launch and SEO Migration
Migrated the DNS from Squarespace to Cloudflare, configuring 301 redirects to preserve any existing SEO rankings.
Performed a post-launch SEO audit, ensuring the site adhered to best practices to avoid penalties and maximise visibility.

Reflection and Key Insights
📚 Lessons Learned
This project offered great insights into designing for videographers and working with video-heavy content on a Framer website. Developing bespoke video components deepened forced me to dive deep into building components and functionality around some of the feature/technical limitations existing with Framer's out-of-the-box Vimeo widget.
Video components are very taxing on browser speeds. We built a couple of components and interactions that wile incredible, became unbelievably taxing on load times, ultimately compromising the user experience.
Beyond the technical aspects, this project was a really great exercise in visual storytelling. It was really fun helping Lachy communicate his value in a way that is both engaging and easy for clients to understand. It also reinforced the importance of lead funnels and how a thoughtfully designed website can address broader business challenges, from increasing leads to improving client segmentation.
💡 Final Reflections
Working with Lachy on this project was very rewarding. By reframing his core services and packaging them in a clear, structured way, we've unlocked deeper and broader growth opportunities for his business. Adding pricing, defining conditions, and presenting his offerings in a fresh light helped open up opportunities that had previously been untapped.
